Stratosphere casino resorts have officially informed about their plan of building 700-foot roller coaster, which would drop riders down the Stratosphere Tower, across Las Vegas Boulevard and up a steel tower fronting on Paradise Road. However, the local people and businesses are against this idea, because they have no reasons to be sure, that the ride won’t bring such problems, like traffic, or noise. Stratosphere has carried out its own test, which reveals that there will be no major impact to the area, but the city and neighbouring locals weren’t shown those results yet. The problem will be discussed by the Las Vegas Planning Commision by the end of the week. People who are against the plan claim that it is to early to decide, because there was not enough time for a proper evaluation of the possible consequences. One of the local residents, Ben Contine says,”The Stratosphere has asked us to completely accept on faith that an over 600-foot roller coaster is going to make almost no noise and create no traffic problems.” Alarmco- a company founded near Stratosphere is afraid that the vibration and noise caused by the ride could be an obstacle to its monitoring system’s action. The counsel of Alarmco express his anxiety about the possible negative results and says that “vibrations associated with the structure of the roller coaster or the noise created by the roller coaster could create false alarms of Alarmcos equipment.”
