The New Scientist has publicized a revise that the casino chips that have particular tags in them (radio frequency identification tags - RFID) might be used as an alternative to conventional paper cash or bank notes. So, this might minimize tricking. The RFID tags in the chips, will aid casinos discover and look intimately at faking chips, and will permit casinos to do something about it. Companies like Wal-Mart, FedEx and Gillette, banks, logistics companies and now casinos are thinking about using RFID technology to remain an eye on their customers and things they send by air, sea or road. The companies will use perhaps about 20 billion RFID tags by 2007 and 1 trillion by 2010. So what is a tag? It is a small piece of equipment, looks likewise to a stamp, has no cables but a special ID code. If it is put on RFID reader or scanner, it warns the system. In case, the technology could be used also in paper currency, banks and shops will simply be able to check that cash is or is not false. In 2003, the European Central Bank publicized that it plans to put radio tags in Euro banknotes to fight with faking the cash.
