Do you believe in everything you read, watch and hear? Of course, not. So try to imagine two online gamblers who claim that they lost their wagers due to racketeering by online casinos and credit card companies. Stop laughing! It is a real fact! Larry Thompson and Lawrence Bradley, two online gamblers, filled a lawsuit in New Orleans against internet casinos and credit card companies they used to gamble online. However, a panel of two judges did not agree with the plaintiffs and found no violation of the laws governing federal racketeering and the Wire Act of 1961. That Act is the only law to date that has some control over internet gambling, but it is highly questionable if it does really concern it. Some experts even say that is has nothing to do with the internet. But how the story ends? On Thursday the Court decided to throw out the class action suit by internet gamblers. The U.S. Justice Dept. sent a letter to the Gaming Control Board in Nevada stating the validity of the Wire Act to internet gambling
However, The Federal Appeals Court said, “The district court concluded that the Wire Act concerns gambling on sporting events or contests and that the plaintiffs had failed to allege that they had engaged in internet sports gambling.” So where can we find the solution?
