Gambling addictions became such a great problem that scientists decided to search for a solution in the medical laboratories. As a result, new drugs apppear. One of them is Naltrexone. First, it was supposed to serve as a cure for alcohol and drug addictions. However, as it appears, it has great results in treating gambling addictions. According to Malcolm Battersby, a psychiatrist and senior lecturer at South Australia’s Flinders University and director of the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders, Naltrexone lowers the exhortion to gamble, which is so hard to control for the compulsive players. It had good results in treating a person from South who hasn’t responded well to any other drugs taken before. In heroin addicts, Naltrexone works by obstructing the opied receptors in the brain. Yet, it is still not certain, how does it works in gambling addicts. The United States decided to take part in researches. As a result, it appeard that antidepressants may help to control the impulsive behaviour that overwhelmes the addicts. Ofcourse, it is not the end of work. The medicine will continue searching.
